Crowdfunding for disease-based research

Women in STEM Fund

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. As an all-female team here at WeSci, we want to support women who have had the initiative and stamina to pursue a STEM-related field because trust us: it ain’t easy!

Women make up ~34% of the workforce in STEM and are vastly outnumbered by men in leadership positions, grant offers and first-author publications. This is why we have created this fund to change the traditional funding cycle and offer a direct support mechanism for female scientists/researchers to advance their findings, projects, and ultimately their careers.

 You + WeSci

Crowdfunding is the most transparent and democratic way of funding projects. By contributing to our Women in STEM fund you will be directly supporting women who are crowdfunding for their scientific projects and ventures on our platform.

Any contribution to this fund would allow them to take their initiatives to the next level, such as: applying for larger government grants to further their research, or publishing a scientific paper to advance understanding in a field, or developing a minimal viable product to test or pitch their findings for investor funding.

So, You + WeSci = more successful female scientists & engineers = a more inclusive & better world!

How this Fund works

On our platform we review and feature high-quality scientific projects which are grouped to crowdfund under an overarching category; in this case: “Women in STEM Fund”. The goal of each Fund is to offer additional funding to up to two of those campaigners who stand out by meeting/exceeding their crowdfunding goal along with other project attributes, such as: novelty and/or use of cutting-edge technology and significance in advancing knowledge within the field.

This means you, as a contributor, get to advance scientific research within this field by directly funding impactful research projects without having to fully understand all the scientific technicalities.
